I’m savoring the moments in my first week post-teaching. Coffee mugs, cleaning, a chance to breathe. My sink somehow still bubbles up with dirty dishes, but the sun streaming in the window grants the job a little grace. I spent time getting to know the “data merge” in Microsoft Word…and now I have an address list and I’m already planning our first ever Olsen-family Christmas card/letter/photo/mailing. I’m excited about it in June!
There’s a patch of poison-ivy growing below my front hedge. Hmm. I’ve eyed it for a month now, wondering how to approach it. I spent time in a “poison ivy blog” where the pro would identify photos of possible Poison Ivy plants. He was pretty good. Well, suffice to say that his stories and descriptions convinced me that’s what we have.
Dig it up, spray it, or just cut it back? All I know is I feel like covering myself head to foot before even approaching it. Of course, this morning as I was trimming our bush beside the door, I turned around to find Bianca burying her nose in the middle of the patch – - oh sweet dog! I don’t want to cuddle with her anytime soon. I’m sure it’s far less spreadable than I fear…but maybe I’ll wait until AFTER vacation to wage war on the poison ivy.

Ooo! Erika, I’m the first ever to post on your new blog!!! I’m so excited that I have a window into your lives in Kentucky. And I am so looking forward to seeing you in a couple weeks for the wedding. Nice haircut by the way!

Hola Senora Olsen. Hooray for being out of school, yes?
Hope you’re doing well. I spotted you Bethany and Josh’s blog.
I passed a Tim Hortons today and thought of you!
Erika. . .Are you planning on updating this blog??? I’d love to see current posts on your life! =)
Hi, Erika! It’s Miss Joy! I found you, somehow, through Lindsey. I’m flying out to see her tomorrow and will spend 3 weeks in NC (post school is GREAT!). Check out my blog if you want to see some current photos of the gang and tell your folks hi for me.
